אתר הצילום של יאיר גיל פעיל מזה שלושה עשורים, ובו תמצאו תיעוד חברתי ממשמרות מחאה והפגנות, עצרות ומצעדים למען שלום, צדק חברתי, איכות סביבה, חינוך, תרבות ואמנות וסולידאריות עם קבוצות ויחידים בעלי השקפות שניתן לסבול. חלק מהתכנים מגיעים ממשימות תיעוד עיתונאי והם פורסמו בעיתונות היומית או במגזינים. האתר עבר למתכונתו הנוכחית כבלוג באפריל 2017.

Yair Gil is a freelance photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Haifa, Israel. For more than three decades, he has documented Israeli society through long-term photographic projects focusing on social activism, civic engagement, environmental issues, urban life, and the complex relationships between people, place, and landscape.
Alongside editorial assignments for newspapers and magazines, Gil has independently documented demonstrations, public assemblies, grassroots initiatives, and everyday life, creating an extensive visual archive of Israel's social and cultural realities. His photographs explore the intersection of politics, identity, community, and the environment, often emphasizing the experiences of individuals and groups whose voices are underrepresented in mainstream visual narratives.
His ongoing photographic archive, Seek Peace and Pursue It, reflects a sustained commitment to documentary practice, civic responsibility, and the belief that photography can serve as both historical record and a catalyst for public dialogue. His work has been exhibited in several group exhibitions, including Local Testimony (Tel Aviv, 2022).
Gil tought photography, photojournalism, and visual storytelling in academic and non-academic settings, working with students of diverse ages and backgrounds, and recently retied from teaching.

מחאה על אישור התכניות להרחיב את בתי הזיקוק והתעשייה המזהמת במפרץ חיפה (יוני-יולי 2017):
משמרות המחאה סמוך לבית שר האוצר כחלון נערכו מתחילת יוני 2017 עד 22.7.2017, מידי מוצ"ש; בתקופה זו התקיים מאהל מחאה במשך 12 ימים ברציפות, במזג אוויר לוהט, בתביעה להחזיר את התכניות שיוסיפו זיהום וחולי לוועדות התכנון. השר כחלון שלח את עוזריו לפגישה חד-פעמית, מרגיעה לכאורה, עם נציגי 'מגמה ירוקה' ו'מנקים את את מפרץ חיפה' להפגת קיטור כאילו, אבל את התכניות להרחיב את הזיהום לא שינה. עם פירוק המאהל הוגשה עתירה לבית המשפט. התקשורת הארצית התעלמה, למעט תכניות רדיו ספורדיות. התקשורת המקומית דיווחה במשורה. עוד בעניין.

משמרת מחאה נגד סגירת ערוץ 1 ביום שישי בערב מול בית שר האוצר משה כחלון בחיפה.
בצילומים מעלה, משמרת המחאה של עובדי ראשות השידור מול הבית של שר האוצר משה כחלון, ביום שישי 26.3.2017 בשעה שמונה בערב. העובדים מחו נגד הכוונה לבטל את רשות השידור ודרשו שלא לעשות זאת; או לפחות שלא לקדם את התהליך הזה מבלי לדאוג לעבודה לעובדי הרשות. כשבוע לאחר מכן הגיע ראש הממשלה לסיכום עם שר האוצר בעניין זה. השליטה של רוה"מ בתאגיד תהייה אם כן גדולה משהיא כעת.
Yair Gil's photography website has been active for about three decades. It presents a visual record of social and civic life, including protest vigils and demonstrations, rallies and marches for peace, social justice, environmental protection, education, culture, the arts, and solidarity with groups and individuals whose views deserve to be heard and tolerated.
