Hedwig, Jadwiga, Mirjam MLYNARSKI born GADIEL

b. 1895              Poland

d. 1962, Tel Aviv

Hedwig (Miriam) and Solomon (Sami) Mlynarski immigrated to Tel Aviv, Israel in 1941, with their children:

Ruth, Ruta

(1925, Breslau - 2002, Beit Keshet, Israel)

Johann Ignaz, Hanss, later Itzhak GIL

 (1931, Rybnik)

The name Mlynarski has changed in Israel. Some Mlynarskies changed it by themselves and chose new names like MAKORY. Others had to be taken by surprise, as David Ben-Guriyon, the first prime minister of Israel, changed my father's name from Mlynarski to GIL. It was during an official ceremony on Hertzel mountain, in Jerusalem, without any pre warning. It was in early 1950's, as a part of an effort to make all citizens of Israel caring Hebrew-Israeli names and identity.
